About Mary Echlin, M.A. Mary is an innovative master teacher, known for creating learning environments in which collaborative, synergistic activities inspire students to give expression to their inner lives. For many years, Mary has been paring contemporary and classic texts to spark truth and energy in new ways, guiding explorations that evoke meaning and life-transformations for participants. Her hands-on approach brings in complementary arts to meet varied learning styles. Mary Echlin, M.A., has over 20 years’ experience teaching and supporting students and writers in cultivating meaning through soulful expression. In her professional life, Mary has taught in an independent school, a private college and a public high school. She has also administered a K-12 school, created non-profit public relations, coordinating community development and team building. She is a dynamic public speaker. A native Californian, Mary has been inspired by living beside French Creek in Chester County for the past fifteen years. In addition to the silence and solitude that nurture her own writing practice, she enjoys perennial gardening, travel and exploring universal spirituality. She is married and the mother of three adult children. A published writer and working poet, Mary has taught writing, literature and the humanities for over twenty years to adults and adolescents. She has originated an approach that opens the poetic process naturally to everyone, and she is skilled in coaching writing in all genres. She uses group process and individual mentoring in the service of the students’ own creative goals. Upbeat, affirming, and supportive, she has a great sense of humor. Mary holds a Master’s Degree in English Literature, a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Business, and a Life-Time California Teaching Credential in English and Business for Secondary and Adult Education. |
